MAY 14TH 2011 - JUDGE MR DAVID WINSLEY
It was a great pleasure to judge the Southern Irish Terrier Society Open Show held in conjunction with Christchurch & New Forest CS.
Veteran Dog/Bitch (3)
1st Rundle & Batley's CH & SWED CH LARKANS UDDA. Feminine girl with a nice head, correct length & well placed ears making a keen expression. Deep ribs, well made body with a good turn of stifle. Correct tail-set, good outline and balance. Not in the best of coats, moving well behind. BV.
2nd Fletcher's BALIROYAT DISCO DANCER. Nice head but rather more 'chunky' in type than racy. In pleasing coat of correct texture, Moving quire well both ways.
3rd Bamsey's MONTELLE NIGHT STAR.
Puppy Dog/Bitch (7) (1a)
1st Hemming's KERRYKEEL ROISIN OF COURTINGTON. What a lovely girl, one who will have a good future. She already has a nicely balanced head of good proportions, nice dark eye with a devilish expression. Good neck & clean shoulders, straight front. Well made body & strongly made hindquarters. Correct tail-set & Carriage. In a good quality coat & well conditioned. Moved well both ways, showing good for such a youngster. BB, RBOB & BP PG2
2nd Grant's KERRYKEEL CORMAC AT TICKNOCK. Litter brother to 1 & all male, will do well. Doesn't need to grow on much more, masculine clean head, well placed ears with a keen expression. Good neck & shoulders, deeply ribbed body with good top-line. Nicely made hindquarters, correct tail set & good clean outline. Moved well, in nice coat & well presented, showed well for his young handler. RBD
3rd Bamsey's HOLBAM TIERNEYS GIRL.
Yearling Dog/Bitch (3) (1a)
1st Redman's APPLEROCK LORD STEFAN. Up to size male. Good length of head with a dark expre3ssive eye. Good neck, deep well made body. Correct tail set & pleasing outline. In good coat & moving quite well.
2nd Fletcher's BALIROYAL SUMMER BREEZE. Overall has a good shape & clean outline. Would have liked less spring of rib & clearer colour. Moves well both ways & showed well.
Post Graduate Dog/Bitch (2)
1st Bamsey's HOLBAM WINSLOW KING. Up to size dog with a pleasing shape. Head good for length, nice shaped dark eye. Deep well made body, correct ribbing & good balance. In nice coat & condition.
2nd Nevill's COURTINGTON ELENA AT ROSEMONELLE. This girl has a very nice head but looked a bit plain due to lack of furnishings. Outline spoilt today by a poor topline, she has a well made mature body. In very short coat, moved & showed well, have seen her look better.
Open Dog (4) (2a)
1st Rundle's CH SIDEWATER THE PRETENDER. Have judged this boy before. Good head, flat skull, dark eye with a typical Irish expression. Good neck & shoulders, straight front, well made deep body. Strong well made hindquarters, good turn of stifle, correct tailset & carriage. Rich red coat of correct texture, put down very nicely. Moved out well, an animated showman. BOB, G1 & RBIS
2nd Nevill's MONTELLE LORD MONTAGUE. Up to size masculine boy, head of food length with a keen expression. Straight front, deep ribs & pleasing turn of stifle. Light red coat on the short side, showed well.
Open Bitch (4) (1a)
1st Grant's TICKNOCK TAMARIND BREEZE. Wheaten with a good length of head, good ear set. Good neck, topline could be firmer. Straight front, deep body & well ribbed back. Pleasing turn of stifle, would like a bit more width behind. In nice coat & well presented. RBB
2nd Bamsey's HOLBAM PEARLY SHANNON. Has lots to like about her, head of good length & balanced, ears not quite settled today. Nice type with a good body & balanced outline. Correct textured coat but lacking undercoat today. Moves well and shows well.
3rd Ruffles' RUFFMAR BRONZE BALLERINA.
