THE SOUTHERN IRISH TERRIER SOCIETY MEMBERS LIMITED SHOW
DECEMBER 7TH 2008 - JUDGE MARY DEATS (ARADET)
A very warm Irish welcome awaited anyone who ventured into the well-decorated and appointed Bradfield Southend Village Hall, near Reading for the SITS Christmas Limited Show. There were people and dogs galore, much laughter and gaiety, and lets face it, anyone who owns an Irish has to have a good sense of humour, so no long faces were to be seen. I was greeted by the Club Chairman, Mr Bamsey as well as the Club patron, Mrs L Jackson, whose wonderful books she wrote on the breed which were my final treat for the day at the end of my judging. I will cherish these and will learn more about the breed from them; a big thank-you for your Club's generosity and of course, the Show would not have occurred without all the support of the Club members.
As this is a Limited Show, only the high points will be mentioned, as many Club members with their pets were in attendance. From an entry of 33 dogs and bitches making 57 entries in total. 27 actually were shown, with the bitches making most of the entries, with 8 males appearing on the day. The depth of quality of bitches was decidedly to their advantage, with Best in Show going to the Best Bitch, Tritton's AILINGTON BURNING EMBER and Best in Puppy in Show as well as Reserve Best Bitch going to Rhodes' GHYLLSLAP SUNSHINE who won a very strong Puppy Bitch Class, which was closely contested. Best Dog was Davis' PRIDE OF SIDFORD, who was also the sinner of Special Beginners. Best Veteran was Bamsey's MONTELLE NIGHT STAR.

1st HENRY'S PRIDE OF SIDFORD. 6 month old raw youngster with lots of promise, has all the essentials. Very good head, neck & excellent forehand, body shape is developing, has best rear action of the class. Very good coat for colour and texture, is a very promising youngster. RBD & BPD

1st BENSHEIR KANE. Stood away from the rest for his arresting silhouette and coat colour. Lovely to go over for coat texture, depth of body, clean but strong rear quarters, hocks well let down, excellent breed type for head and balance. Lost out overall on preferred rear gait of the bitch for top award. BD & RBIS

Limit Dog (4) (2a)
1st MONTELLE RETURN OF THE KING
Open Dog (1)
1st REBELAS MORRIS MINOR
Puppy Bitch (6) (1a)
1st GHYLLSLAP SUNSHINE. With her slightly more mature body development at 9½ months of age, excellent coat for her age, very good ear set, neck, topline and tail. Has neat feet, moves so well with handler, but still has the spirit I was looking for in this breed. Dark eyes enhance her outlook and sufficient strength of muzzle and length, with sufficient width, not too much, in skull. She held her topline at all times and this was one of the deciding factors. RBB & BP
2nd MONTELLE STAR OF THE RING
3rd NEWGUILD TWIST
Res AILINGTON TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Ears well set and used, good length and strength to foreface, eyes dark but a shade large, and another one with very good neck for set on and length as well as very good front. Holds her topline well and has good tail set. Moves soundly with desired well muscled quarters.. In the class she did nothing for herself, but came alive in the challenge, sufficient to annex BB and BIS, well done. BB & BIS
