THE SOUTHERN IRISH TERRIER SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
OCTOBER 1ST 2005 - JUDGE VALERIE ATKINSON
Thank you to the exhibitors for a lovely entry and the warm welcome. Thank-you to the Secretary and Committee for the hospitality, which was greatly appreciated.
All feet and mouths were sound so are not mentioned in any critique, temperaments were excellent on the whole, none were troublesome, a few needed to build confidence. Some varied a little but in a relatively small gene pool such as Irish, I have other priorities and would only penalise extremes when quality is equal.
Special Beginners Dog (1)
1st Neville's MONTELLE LORD MONTAGUE. Somewhat unsure of himself in the ring. Clean head, good ears when settled, a little bold in eye, strong muzzle, tending to hunch into his shoulders and spoiling topline, settled better on the move, excellent coat and presentation.
Minor Puppy Dog (2) (1a)
1st Bradley's KILCAVAN OBERON AT MONTELLE. Very promising youngster. Lovely head, ears and expression, good length of neck into well placed shoulders, good topline and set on, could have more rear angulation, but did not deter from hind action, good bone, super temperament. BDP & BPIS
Puppy Dog (1)
1st Neville's MONTELLE LORD MONTAGUE.
Junior Dog (3) (1a)
1st Bradley's FARMLANDS LORD OF THE RINGS AT MONTELLE. One to watch. For me, has the intrinsic qualities of an Irish. Lovely size and balance, excellent coat, colour and presentation. Good head and expression, using ears well. Great shoulder, topline and set on, good angulation giving positive ground covering strides. Great personality, just needs time to settle into the job. RDCC
2nd Stahle's APRIL RED SUNRISE. Shorter cast than winner, has good eye and head properties spoiled by small wayward ears. OK shoulder, topline and set on,m nice rear angulation, moved well.
Novice Dog (3) (1)
1st Neville's MONTELLE LORD MONTAGUE.
2nd Fletcher's INCHICORE YOUNG QUIN CUM BALIROLYAT. Biggish dog, little heavy in ears, nice eye, excellent bone, good quarters and set on, good harsh coat and colour, moved OK.
Post Graduate Dog (3) (1a)
1st Davis' RED CARD OF BENSHEIR. Nice size and balance, just a shade fine for a male, clean head, good eye, small open ears. Good length of neck, front and shoulder placement, nice length of rib, set on OK and carried well. Moved well in front, touch close behind, steady showman.
2nd Fletcher's INCHICORE YOUNG QUIN CUM BALIROLYAT,

Rather strong through his forequarters but nicely balanced masculine head, good foreface well used ears, good length of neck and shoulders nice length of rib and good topline. Moved a little wide behind, a faster pace might help.
Open Dog (3) (1a)
1st Scawthorn & Averis' SNOWTAIRES RED BARON AT SAREDON. Excelled in attitude, ring presence and temperament. Great eye, ear placement and length of foreface, nice length of neck and good flow into shoulder, straight front, good muscle tone, good bone and eight feet. Super topline and tailset, good angulation and strength in hocks giving drive from behind and positive action. Coat, colour, presentation and condition were A1. DCC (his 3rd I believe) and BIS.
